Aubrey qualified in South Africa in 1972, and immediately came to work in London. Completed required exams to be able to work in U.S.A. in 1981, but preferred to remain in London. I concentrate on restorative
dentistry which is fillings, crowns, veneers and bridges. I still enjoy what I do because of the 2 reasons I chose dentistry:
I wanted to work with people and
I wanted to produce a result you could create with your hands.
Looking after patients requires 3 skills, all of which need constant enhancement:
Good communication so the patient understands what is happening to their teeth, and what the options are. Explanations include visual aids, computer simulations, x-rays etc.
Gentle care. Nobody enjoys the dentist. It is our challenge to make the visit as painless and pleasant as possible. Even bad jokes help.
Quality work. Generally the dentist is the one who knows the actual quality of the work. If the patient feels no pain, and the work looks good, they are happy. The dentist has higher standards.
Dentistry is a wonderful profession. I get to relieve patients of pain, as well as to enhance their looks. I hope I can provide both services for years to come.
